A friend in need

What is th defintion of a FRIEND now a days? It seems as though to me that the people that I thought were my friends really have wondered away. In a better understanding I mean that we use to be close and now you dont even hear from the so called 'friends' anymore. How hard is it just say 'HI' and see how one another are doin?! These days are going fast and so its best to keep those you care about near.

I believe acquaintance is a better word.

your rite about the ppl who u thought were ur friends driftin away, i was so close wit 2 of my friends in high school, and couple years afta we graduated, den 1 situation happend wit 1 and da otha 1 decided to follow her, but ya no life goes on, i really dont call ppl friends no more cuz just as quickly as dey come into ur lives dey can go, and for sum, for dumb reasons, dats why i only hav ppl around me who know where they are goin in life and wont be jealous of wat ppl hav or tryn to get

but if u really wan find out who ur tru friends are, try to achieve sumtin dat u know it is out of ur reach, if dey always puttin u down or not supportin u, den u no where ya'll stand

Friends growing apart after highschool is natural. Because after highschool your making a transition to real adulthood and handling harsh or sweet reality. My definition of a true friend would have to be someone of great character and have a positive influence in my life. We all are getting older and developing (maturing ) .

Now , I got frustrated when I was the only trying to keep in touch , so one day I said **** it and just moved on with my life and grew up. People come and go like seasons. If I see them at school or wherever I say hello and what not . Just like winter comes every year those friends can also return for a season in your life.

A friend is somebody you judge for yourself...meaning: no two persons are alike therefore it is highly unlikely that their criteria for friendships would be the same i.e., a friend to me is someone that:

1. Lend me money without any hope of getting it back.
2. Do whatever I ask without asking any questions.
3. Absolutely never ask me for anything I own...NEVER.
4. Never bothers me with their sick pathetic emotional problems.
5. Never let anyone get the better of me whether in public or not.
6. Would gladly take a bullet or two for me.
7. Have some really sexy sisters available at my beck and call...a must.
8. Only desire in life is to follow me even into hell.

In other words: a true down to earth, ride or die, rough neck, thug to the end friend.

well most ppl ya call ya friends are not really ya friends ! they jus there wen you up and wen ya lil down and out they move on , a real friend should be ther wen ya in touble and sick etc . but is there such a thing as a frend in this last HAlf ? i dnt think so i think ppl are jus prentenders and everyone lookin out 4 themself especially how things enn getting no better !

To me a real friend is a person wo hav ya back no matter what. They are persons who u cud jus kick back wit an b urself around. Also real friends tell u the truth no matter how bad it may hurt den comfort u after wards. If you want to test ur friend ship..hav a conversation with ur friend ...dnt talk to dem 4 like a week ..after dat call dem an if yal pick ryt back up where yal left off ..das an off da chains friendship..Thank God I'm blessed with three great REAL FRIENDS

... 1. and 3. wud kinda make no sense if both of u define a friend the same way :S

But if u have ur points like clique has and it dont match up with the characteristics of ur 'friend' then i guess... they never was one :S

In my opinion a friend is someone who:

1- you can get along with and can enjoy time together with
2- is supportive of you
3- is honest with you
4- understands your good and bad points but still sticks around anyway
5- someone who cares greatly for you or loves you
