As I was about to drive my car out of the driveway and head for work, yet again 30-something minutes late and already in default of my probation by (2) warning slip; a neighbor of mine stopped me and literally bagged for a lift in almost the opposite direction. Being the bleeding heart that I was; I reluctantly, accepted their offer to buy gas for the car and a few cold ones for the road; what the hell… am already late.
After thanking me for my generosity, a simple act of random kindness, or so I thought; the neighbor decided to compliment that moment with a proverb from their profound knowledge of unknown wisdom. They began their lecture by conveniently saying; Chris…I believe that there are no accidences in life; that everything happens for a reason whether we believe it or not. As they went further into explaining their theory of destiny a thought went across my mind; why, on Gods earth, are they telling me this.
As they went deeper and deeper into the inner workings of The Creator’s Mind, a dept that got me a little uncomfortable and, honestly, teed-off; how dare they pretend to have insight into the mysteries of life and yet not know that they are seriously holding me back from something important…my J O B!! After their winded discourse, to my delight, we reached our destination; an application office for, would you believe, job hunters. Had I known what I know now I might have filled out a form for myself because, after I finally arrived @ work, I found out my service was no longer necessary.
Looking back, retrospectively, on that day; the only good thing that happened was that my neighbor made it on time to sign up for a job they love and still have after (25) years...God bless their soul. The only accident was me giving them that lift in the first place. You’ve got to love it; just because it’s your destiny does not make it a good destination.
