A Living Dog is better.
Posted On 02/05/2008 01:48:15 by DaClique

King Chris I would like to quote a passage of scripture I read that says, "A living dog is better than a dead lion". Reading this verse it occurred to me; anything living is better than everything dead. What was the point to which the author would have his/her reader to understand; life is better than death or, even the mighty die? After further thought upon the subject of living dogs and dead lions, I became curiously obsessed with the reality of an alternate meaning embedded within the (2) chosen parallels [dog/lion]. What is the authors true intent in comparing a dog representing- loyalty, trust, friendship and commitment, and a lion which represents - strength, courage , nobility and respect? I asked (100) total strangers "if you had to be (1) of (2) animal which (1) would you choose (a). Dog or (b). Lion", and not surprising to me, over (93%) chose (b), I also would have chosen to be a lion. On the top (10) chart of ferocious beast the lion ranks (#1) and the dog puts in a good showing at (# 15) after wolves. This, more curious than ever, leads me back to my initial question; what is the authors point? The author to the passage of scripture, I now quarry, is dead which leaves me with the proposition of having to analyze and interpret it's meaning for myself. Could it be that this author was trying to convey to his/her reader the importance of life and that it mattered not if you are a dog just as long as you're alive . My conclusion from reading those (9) little words: Be thankful for life. Be very thankful especially that you are still alive.
