Title: I'm Just Wondering…

Blog Entry: I was reading the good book the other day and came upon a verse[ Matt-5:3 ] that read; those with self-esteem issues are blessed: they own shares in a platinum chip stock[ paraphrasing ], but it got me thinking a bit; can you trade those stocks? My God can you imagine the far reaching consequences a block of royal stock could imply to the insignificant lives of mortals; those which were doomed to damnation can look forward to 12 star luxury accommodations at the Kingdom of Heaven Resort and spar. This further sparked my curiosity towards the wider implications of biblical text, it’s overly critical stance upon many issues we mortals regard redundant in a modern society. Societies wherein the law is metaphor for morality and code for antisocial behaviors, a semi-mixture of biblical references and the pathetic fears of mortal men. This got me further thinking; how deep in Bahamian Law had biblical text rooted itself..? Is it Godly to give free will and still impose restrictive laws that are intolerant to any form of liberal expressions ? This makes the author of biblical laws insensitive toward the plights of mankind, to place limits upon that which drives us, each day, to do the things we do just to survive.. To further complicate the issue, in the good book there is another verse[ Mark-9:23 ] that read; “all things are possible”. My only query to this presumption; why is it impossible for a rich man to enter heaven, especially owing to the fact that wealthy people frequently believe in accomplishing the impossible.
