Blog Entry: The Socialist Democratic Republic (SDR) of the Bahamas Hear me out then consider for yourselves; providing you have not prejudged this proposal based upon willful ignorance or the lack of sound advice; rather it be rejected upon common value than upon the privileges of the few. The need to immerge our local economy with the global market had been resolved; the fact that many of our natural resources our being eaten up by foreign markets compels us to reconsider our initial bid for independence. With agreements for a defense core without adequate means of defending; how can we protect our natural resources if we are unable, at present, to adequately provide the necessary materials needed to protect our “armed” forces? I propose a restructuring of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas; an enormous undertaking, but, with the right materials in place we can and we will, effectively and efficiently, win back our sovereignty and administer the sound judgment of Bahamian Law. How will we do this? 1. We shall become a Socialist nation [lending controlling shares of individual interest to the State]; balancing the scale between the privileged few and the masses. 2. We shall retain a Democratic form of governance conclusive to the administration of public works and utilities, social services-individual life/health care including property wealth and management. 3. We shall adapt a Republic structure to our electoral process wherein furthering the criteria, including but not limited, to all candidates applying for public office must be publicly elected and not personally selected; offices of great power and privileges must be prejudicially guarded against the vain ambitions of the evil doer. We ought seriously to consider our positioning in the global market place, our motivations must be transparent and the force which ignites our progressive motion forward, upward and onward must remain resoundingly clear. The choice for the better Bahamas lies not in the mistakes we have made in time past but in our fearless embrace of a future Bamamas which offers hope for the hopeless, and, equal opportunities for all its citizens.
